Long Mynd Look at the picture books - people and places

What happens to the retired?

This site contains our journal since retirement, which started on 1st January 2005. It was conceived to take the place of the circular often sent out with Christmas cards. We had on a couple of occasions sent our circular in February to save our readers the pressure that comes from so many communications arriving within a couple of weeks at the end of the year. Then we did it to save trees and now we do it largely for our own benefit as an easy accessible family record. If you, dear reader, find it of interest then it has served a double purpose.

We retired on 31st December 2004 in receipt of five pensions, it pleasing Barclays Bank, The Children's Society, the Church of England, the Church in Wales and Her Majesty's Government to contribute to our material welfare. We had always intended to return to Pyrford, which we left in March 1994 but Fosters was tenanted with the term not expiring until March 2005. When it approached that date we extended the term for a year thinking that we could allow Foster's Tenant to pay for some of our retirement holidays. We were able to live in our house in Blockley which we had bought in 1997 whilst on holiday in the Cotswolds - as you do.
